Historic Preservation Commission to explain
benefits of local Historic Register at meeting

The Pomeroy Historic Commission will meet with interested property owners on September 18, 2007, to discuss the process for listing properties on the local Pomeroy Historic Register. The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Senior Center.

According to the Commission Chairman, Brad Gingerich, commission members will explain what a listing on the Pomeroy Historic Register can mean to property owners. Gingerich emphasized that you do not have to be listed with the state or national historic registers to qualify for a spot on the local Pomeroy Register. The listings are available for both residential and commercial buildings.

The commission will distribute brochures explaining the application process and tax incentives for listed properties. For more information, you may call Brad at (509) 843-3651.

Copies of the local application are available here (Download application page 1 and page 2). A flowchart of the process is here.
