Put on your Easter Bonnet and join in the Easter Parade and Fabulous Hat Competition at the Buster House Tea Room & Shop on Saturday, April 11th at 11 a.m. The Parade will begin on the sidewalk in front of Castlemoyle Books & Gifts at 7th and Main Streets in downtown Pomeroy, WA. The two-block long sidewalk parade will walk through the main business area of the Downtown Pomeroy Historic District. Judges will be along the parade route looking for the best adult, teen (12 to 18) and child (0 to 11 years old) hats to pass by them. The judges will award prizes to the most beautiful, most colorful, funniest and most outrageous bonnets for each age group. Parade participants must have their entry number visible to be selected for a prize. The Easter Bonnet Parade and Fabulous Hat Competition's entry fee is a donation of at least one non-perishable food item or household neccessity (toilet paper, detergent, etc.) per entry. You may choose to make a cash donation of at least $3. as your entry fee. All entry fees will be donated to the Garfield County Food Bank. Advanced registration is encouraged. Entry forms will be available between April 7 and April 10th at Castlemoyle Books during normal business hours (Tues-Saturday between 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.). You may complete the entry form and bring your food bank donation when you pick it up. If coming in to pick up an entry form is not practical, you can also download one after April 7 from here. (Note: the entry form will open up in a separate window.) You will receive your entry number when when we receive the completed form and your donation. While you are encouraged to complete the entry process in advance, you may bring your completed entry form and food donation on the morning of the event between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. Absolutely no entries will be accepted after 10 a.m. The parade with begin promptly at 11 a.m. After the parade, around noon, a traditional afternoon tea of scones with Devonshire cream, lemon curd, and jam, a variety of tasty tea-sandwiches, delicious hot savories, and delightful desserts will be served at the Buster House Tea Room and Shop. You'll also get to enjoy at least four flavors of our top-quality aromatic teas. Each guest is encouraged to wear their Easter Bonnet, even if you don't enter the parade. If you don't have an Easter Bonnet you can wear one of ours! We have just improved our selection of dress up hats including a special section for the little ones. Each guest will take home a special remembrance of the day. The price of the tea is $21.95 for adults, $18.95 for teens & Seniors, and $15.95 for children ages eleven and under.
