Howard Jackson

Howard Jackson, 57, a lifelong resident of Garfield County and a prominent farmer and cattleman, died Wednesday night, October 27, 1976, at Memory Manor Nursing Home. The cause of death was not announced.

Jackson was born May 11, 1919, on the farm owned by his parents, Albert and Christine Jackson. He attended schools in the Pomeroy school system and attended Washington State University at Pullman for one year.

He married Nellie Laughery at Dayton, April 18, 1943. She survives at the home. Jackson was a member of the Garfield County Cattlemen's Assn., the Washington Wheat Growers Assn., the Pomeroy Farm Bureau, the Pomeroy Shrine Club, the Order of the Eastern Star, El Katif Temple of the Shrine at Spokane and the Pomeroy Masonic Lodge. He attended Marengo Community Church.

Also surviving are three sons, Jerry Jackson of Pomeroy, Jan Jackson of Richland, and John Jackson of Walla Walla; his father, Dayton; three sisters, Helen Kimble of Walla Walla, Hazel Jolley of Spokane, and Harriett Cummings of Kennewick, and two grandchildren.

The funeral was at the Richardson-Brown Funeral Home, October 30, [1976,] with the Rev. Clarence Wiseman of the Prescott Community Church officiating. Burial followed at the Pomeroy City Cemetery. Members of the family suggest that any memorial contributions be made to Memory Manor Nursing Home.
