John Christopher Keatts

Funeral services were held Sunday [March 10, 1957] at the Methodist Church for John Christopher Keatts, 84, who died at his home [March 7] following a lingering illness. The Reverend Lloyd Alden officiated and interment was in the Pomeroy city cemetery.

Keatts was born in Pittsylvania County, Virginia, April 12, 1873, and came to Garfield County 47 years ago. He was married to Betty Berger, March 10, 1915. He was a member of the Baptist Church and the Masonic Lodge.

Surviving relatives are his wife, at home; sons, Cmdr. John C. Keatts, Washington, DC, and Berger Keatts, Pomeroy; and daughters Virginia Keatts, San Francisco; and Mrs. Clarence Miller, Mrs. Elizabeth Munoz, and Mrs. Wesley Towner, of Pomeroy.

James A. Thornton

James A. Thornton, 47, died suddenly at his home in Spokane, Sunday night [January 20, 1957]. He was born in Pomeroy May 18, 1909, to Emmer and Nereus Thornton. When 20 years old he went to Spokane and graduated from Kinman Business college. For the past eight years he has been an accountant at Geiger Field, Spokane.

Surviving relatives are his wife, Mary, at home, a son, Bob, Portland, Oregon; his father, N.A. Thornton, Pomeroy; two sisters, Mrs. E. E. Greene, Pomeroy, and Mrs. J. A. Arnot, Troy, Idaho; one brother, Raymond Thornton, Seattle.

Funeral services were held at the Hennessey Funeral Home, Wednesday at 1:30, and burial was in Spokane.

Mr. and Mrs. Joe Henley and Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Chard, Pomeroy, attended the services.
